Privacy Charter

Respecting Your Privacy During Surveying Operations

At Alexander Symonds, we are committed to protecting the privacy of individuals during our ground and aerial surveying activities. This charter outlines our principles and practices when capturing images or data in public and private spaces.

What We Do

We conduct professional surveying using ground-based cameras and drones to collect geospatial data for mapping, analysis, and infrastructure planning. While our focus is on land and structures, individuals may be incidentally captured in imagery. Alexander Symonds does not intentionally collect sensitive information.

This method of data collection provides a rapid; minimally intrusive procedure that enhances public and staff safety which cannot be obtained by traditional terrestrial methods.

Our Privacy Principles

  • Minimal Impact: We aim to avoid capturing identifiable individuals unless necessary for the survey’s purpose.
  • Transparency: We clearly communicate when and where surveying will occur, especially in areas where people may be present.
  • Consent Where Practical: We seek consent when operating in close proximity to individuals or private property.
  • Secure Handling: All images and data are stored securely and accessed only by authorized personnel.
  • Limited Use: Photographs are used strictly for surveying and reporting purposes. We do not use third-party images for marketing without explicit consent.
  • Respectful Operations: Our drone flights comply with CASA regulations and are planned to avoid unnecessary intrusion.
