Franco Rea is a Director of Alexander Symonds and has more than 28 years of experience in the Australian surveying industry. He oversees all technology and innovation needs within the business. A Licensed Surveyor with a Bachelor of Surveying, Franco joined Alexander Symonds in 2001 with outstanding credentials, including The Sydney John Stokes Award which he was bestowed by the Land Surveyors Licensing Board of Western Australia, for his technical excellence and professionalism.
His experience covers field surveys in both the land development and engineering sectors, for private and government clients, as well as feature surveys, subdivisions, lease surveys and cadastral, mining, construction, industrial metrology, precise surveys, large scale earthworks, aerial mapping, GPS and three-dimensional laser scanning surveys.
In the last 10 years Franco has completed and supervised surveys for oil and gas for Shell in Victoria and South Australia, during upgrades of their existing processing facilities. Heavily involved in the training of surveying graduates at Alexander Symonds, Franco also has extensive experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) including the South Australian Government’s Spatial Land Information System, and has an excellent understanding of dimensional control surveys for modules, piping, interfaces and other sections of off-shore oil and gas structures.
Franco is also the Director of Pinpoint Service Mapping.
