Alexander Symonds was established in 1932 and is now one of Australia's leading and longest serving surveying and geographic information management consultancies. It is a South Australian based company with its head office in Adelaide, branch offices in Mount Gambier (in the South East), Berri (in the Riverland) and Melbourne, along with regional offices covering South Australia and western Victoria. It has been involved with many of South Australia's major land developments and key Infrastructure projects. Alexander Symonds employs a high proportion of professional staff complemented by well trained and experienced technical personnel. The Company has a philosophy of operating state of the art electronic equipment and software. During the past two decades, in particular, it has been at the forefront of utilising new technology including digital data collection , analysis and presentation ; the Global Positioning System (GPS); and Geographic Information Systems (GIS); and laser scanning and 3-D modelling. All of the Company's functions have been operating under its certified ISO9001 quality assurance system since 1993. Alexander Symonds has been involved with projects in most Australian States as well as in the Philippines, Papua New Guinea , the United Kingdom and North Yemen . In 1998 the Company received the Excellence in Surveying Award from the Institution of Surveyors Australia, South Australia Division for its work on the Sydney Casino rock formation model. It was presented with the national Excellence in Surveying Award in 2000 for its involvement in the London Millennium Dome Project".
